Oh, Blogger has changed, When did that happen

Will I noticed that blogger has changed it's interface (as often as I check This may have happened a year ago.  The interface is definitely less cluttered and this is good.  I might do a little blogging on programming or Amateur radio in the very near future.

An age that can not acknowledge Truth

We are in such a conceded age. The people of power in our age make no bones about showing that they place power and money above all other things. We live in an age that is marked by worship of "a god of forces", the power of economic might and the infallibility of those in power. Yet as I look I see the power they think they have built on such imaginary foundations to see they must be delusional. The foolish builders who have no foundation but that of sand, building in flood plain so they will be near the river.

Lord God, your judgement comes soon as it is written that "...in the last days, People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather then lovers of God - having a form of godliness but denying its power." (2Tim3:1-5)

These are dark days for our world, in the economic, political and religious realms we look to money and power, not to the needs and God, the fulfiller of needs.

Me, We, and You

I have been thinking about the issues in our society today and it boils down to an "I" problem. We, as a society, have been focused far too much on "me" not enough on "we" and not at all on "you". Less focus on the common good and more focus on what is good for me is slowly destroying your society.

Not that this is a new issue. It comes around again and again in the history of man, and it is always the down fall of nations. The problem is that it seems so deeply ingrained in our psyche as Americans and effects the wealthy and poor alike. We need to loose "me" and look to making "we" and "you" important to each one of us.

Saint Paul said that we need to consider the needs of others as equal to our needs. I believe that this is true and do try to live by this. But so many see this as weakness, and not a strength that it truly is. If we turn to God and ask for his guidance in doing the true Common Good he would help us and heal us, and then we become greater then we ever been in the past.

I dare say that ALL of the major issues of the day are due to self seeking by some group and if we all seek the Common Good with the help of God, we would solve all the great issues of our time.

Would this happen? I sadly say no, it won't, as we, collectively, are just too selfish to admit our faults and too self focused to admit our need for the Almighty.

Trying to Blog again

Well I went to blog last night and discovered that blogger was down... hard. This is discouraging when I want to but out a thought for (possible) public consumption. I signed into Facebook for the first time yesterday and I was not whelmed. I am a technologist, and I can see some advantage to the social media stuff, but I do think there may be a bit much tending these things on line instead of in person.

The other question is since I signed up for Facebook, it must mean I am missing the next big thing. So what is it???

Needing to Post

Well it has been a year since I last posted. I need really need to keep up a posting a least once a week. I intended to posts as a means to improve my skills at impromptu to writing such as emails and technical documents. I shall endeavor to write more and I hope to put up some thoughts on Prayer and God. What is really needed is to focus on the Lord and his soon coming as things are really weird in the world.

The Bible says that many will call "Peace and Safety and Sudden destruction will come. " Also it states that every one will be chasing after their own gain and not seeking the Lord. They will have a form of godliness without the power. I see that people are self serving, self important and self deceived trying to out do one another. Hatred and power grabbing is the way those in power keep power and extend it.

I think of the warnings that God gave through Jeremiah

The shepherds are senseless and do not inquire of the Lord;
so they do not prosper and all their flock is scattered

Connections

Was listing to several authors on the radio as I ran errands this morning talking about the nature of social networks. They were claiming that even our moods are contagious in the networks and that implies we humans have a herd mentality. I find it is interesting that we keep coming to some thing that God has shown us starting 3000 years ago.

There is a reason he made Moses a shepherd before he let him lead the children of Isreal to the promised land. When Isreal cried for a king, to replace the Judges of Isreal, God choice first Saul then David both of whom had experence as herds men. The Lord Jesus himself told us that people where like sheep without a shepherd.

If we do not recognize that we, ourselves individually, are indeed 'sheeple' we can not grow beyond conformity to our peers. If we don't have God in our life then we and our networks will not have what is truly needed to fix our social ills.

Transparancy and Honesty

The fixes to the economic and political issues we face as a nation and a world are these two words. The problem is that they can not be force from with out, and change does not come from with in without help. With out a true revival of moral a force from with in us, a true second birth of the Holy Spirit, we and our leaders are doomed to be moving from crisis to crisis, crying "Peace and Safety" yet, to finish St Paul's Thought, destruction comes up on. We need a focus on the truly moral and not on our selfish ambition, not on the gain we can get by "gaming" those less able to defend them self.

It is written "Weep and Wail, Oh Rich man, the Wages you have cheated the workmen cry to heaven" (James 5:1,2) and it is also written in the Bible that the merchant weep and mourn over the destruction of Babylon, for they have no one else to sell their wares to (sound familiar, does it not). We have been arrogant, selfish and pridful, now we are paying the price for our communal lack of humility and
